Job Overview:

Evolve Healthcare is seeking a skilled and compassionate Labor and Delivery Nurse to join our team of healthcare providers in the Chicago, IL area . As a Labor and Delivery Nurse, you will provide specialized care to expectant mothers during the labor and delivery process. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the safety and well-being of both the mother and the baby.

Duties:

• Monitor the progress of labor, including fetal heart rate, contraction patterns, and maternal vital signs
• Administer medications as needed, including pain management techniques
• Assist with the management of high-risk pregnancies and complications during labor
• Provide emotional support and education to expectant mothers and their families
• Assist with the delivery process, including monitoring for any signs of distress or complications
• Perform newborn assessments and provide immediate care to the newborn after delivery
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for patients
• Document all patient interactions, assessments, and interventions accurately

Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Labor and Delivery Nurse preferred
• Proficient in IV infusion techniques and medication administration
• Familiarity with ICD-9 coding for accurate documentation
• Knowledge of behavioral health considerations in the labor and delivery setting
• Experience with botulinum toxin treatment for postpartum pain management is a plus
• Understanding of cardiac catheterization procedures related to labor and delivery emergencies
• Familiarity with laboratory tests commonly performed during labor and delivery
• Previous experience working in a hospital setting preferred
• Knowledge of ophthalmology procedures related to neonatal eye care is a plus
• Ability to triage patients effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
